Introduction to physical kinetics, transport theory, and disordered systems

Alex Tsyplyatyev, WS 2017/2018

Lectures: 2 hours per week on Tuesdays at 10.15am
Room: 1.114
First week: 17.10.2017
Last week: 06.02.2018

This course is an introduction to the kinetics of physical systems, with many applications to electrons in a disordered potential, and transport theory of metals/semiconductors, including scattering by phonons, magnetic impurities, and other electrons as well as thermoelectricity, spintronics, classical Hall effect, and derivation of the diffusion and Navier-Stockes equations starting from the kinetic equation. This lecture extends the standard material of the undergraduate courses on the classical and on the quantum mechanics towards research in the theoretical solid-state physics.
