Scope
The Summer School will deal with low-dimensional many-body quantum systems.
They reveal peculiar properties as quantum effects are enhanced in less than three spatial dimensions. Both experimental and theoretical experts will provide overview and introductory talks on various selected topics.
Particular emphasize will be devoted to a detailed discussion of the Tonks-Girardeau gas in 1d and the Berezinski-Kosterlitz-Thouless phase transition in 2d. Furthermore, the recent realization of the low-dimensional Anderson localization of ultracold atoms in both laser speckle disorder potential and incommensurate optical lattices will also be discussed.

Although the Summer School is organized by the integrated "College for the Advancement of Postgraduate Education" of the Collaborative Research Center SFB/TR 49 "Condensed Matter Systems with Variable Many-Body Interactions", which is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, it will be open for international registration. In particular, PhD students and young postdocs, who are interested to broaden their research profile, will benefit from the pedagogical lectures. Furthermore, all participants will be given the opportunity to present their current research work through posters and a poster flash presentation.
