Centenary of Bose-Einstein Statistics: Applications of Bose-Einstein condensation in (Astro)physics

Debades Bandyopadhyay (Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, India ;
Aliah University, Kolkata, India)

We are celebrating the centenary of the Bose-Einstein Statistics in 2024.  This work was an important milestone in the development of Quantum Mechanics. In this seminar, I will discuss the role of Bose-Einstein condensates  formed in nuclear matter, Supernovae as well as astrophysical compact objects. The mystery of the missing neutron star in SN1987A will be highlighted. Finally, the impact of Bose-Einstein condensation will be explored  in pulsar glitches.

The colloquium will be streamed but not recorded.
