Heavy flavor physics with the CMS experiment

Vincenzo Chiochia (University of Zürich)

The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider investigates proton-proton collisions at unprecedented center-of-mass energies. In this presentation we review the recent results achieved by CMS in the field of heavy flavour physics, ranging from production cross section measurements, heavy hadron spectroscopy and properties, as well as searches for new physics in rare decays of B hadrons. In particular, we present the observations of a new baryon with beauty, the $\Xi_{b}^{*0}$, and of the rare decay $\mathrm{B}_s \rightarrow \mu^+ \mu^-$.
