Probing the phase diagram of QCD with fluctuations

The critical fluctuations at the chiral crossover transition are
reflected in fluctuations of the net baryon number, net strangeness
etc. The generic behaviour of the corresponding susceptibilities is
extracted from O(4) scaling functions and from model calculations. The
possibility to use these fluctuations to explore the phase diagram of
QCD in heavy-ion collisions is discussed.
