The Yang-Mills gradient flow and the infrared behaviour of SU(3) gauge theory with 12 flavours

C.-J. David Lin (Institute of Physics, National Chiao-Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan)

We employ the lattice step-scaling method to compute the gradient-flow scheme coupling constant, $g_{\mathrm{GF}}$, in SU(3) gauge theory with 12 massless fermions. In this talk, I will discuss the challenges in using this strategy to search for possible infrared conformality in this theory. In view of these challenges, we propose a finite-size scaling approach. Our analysis suggest that the possible infrared fixed point in this theory is not located in the regime $g^{2}_{\mathrm{GF}}< 6$.
