Ultra-relativistic
heavy-ion collision experiments provide enough energy to cross the
threshold where hadronic systems are converted into a novel state of
matter, the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). We study mass effects in
fluctuations of the QGP within the next-to-leading order calculation of
the thermodynamic potential in perturbative QCD at finite temperature.
Our results are compared to lattice data to investigate the trend
brought about by mass corrections. Furthermore, we investigate the
thermodynamics at nonzero isospin density for cold QCD and its
implications for the phase diagram at finite $\mu_{\mathrm{I}}$.
