Studying Heavy-Ion Collisions with CMS

Torsten Dahms (Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet (LLR) Ecole Polytechnique Palaiseau)

The unprecedented centre-of-mass energy available at the LHC offers unique opportunities for studying the properties of strongly-interacting QCD matter at extreme temperatures and energy densities. In this colloquium, selected results of the CMS experiment from pp and PbPb  collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}=2.76 \; \mathrm{TeV}$ will be discussed, with a particular focus on hard probes.
