QCD probed by magnetic fields and boundary conditions
Falk Bruckmann (Universität Regensburg)
QCD and its phase transitions play an important role in heavy ion
collisions, neutron stars and the early universe. Recently there has
been a growing interest in the effects of strong (electro-)magnetic
fields present in these systems. I will present new results about the
influence of magnetic fields on the quark condensate and the critical
temperature, obtained from lattice simulations at physical quark
masses. In the second part I will discuss generalised quark boundary
conditions leading to dressed Polyakov loops, which are novel order
parameters for the finite temperature transition.
