Chiral
magneto-hydro-dynamics: from quark-gluon plasma to Dirac semimetals
Dmitri Kharzeev (Stony
Brook University)
Quantum anomalies modify the macroscopic
behavior of fluids containing chiral fermions. Chiral
magneto-hydrodynamics is an effective theory that describes the
anomaly-induced effects in the presence of electromagnetic fields, notably
the chiral magnetic effect. The applications to the quark-gluon plasma and
the discovered recently Dirac semimetals will be discussed.
