Starting with the well-known flow analysis in heavy ion collisions at energies of around 2 AGeV and showing the newest results obtained by the FOPI collaboration for K+ and for the first time, after decades of effort, for K- and continuing with the investigation of elementary collisions in the same energy range performed by the HADES collaboration, the state of the art of this branch of physics will be discussed.
The contradictions and problems linked to the interpretation of the existing data with the help of transport models will be addressed and the steps forward achieved in the last years from both sides, with the hope for more, will be presented. The impact of our current understanding of strangeness production in more or less dense nuclear systems for models on neutron stars will be reviewed. Future plans, strongly entangled with the upcoming FAIR enterprise will be mentioned as well.
Maybe not so boring, at the end of the day.
